Continuing from my previous post..... After a lot of deliberation on which books I should include, here is my tentative list of books to read for the Orbis Terrarum Challenge. Tentative, because some of the books may change, subject to availability or if I find something more appealing... However, I will try and stick to the list and the order in which I read the books.
1)The Talkative Man - R K Narayan (India)
2)One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez (Colombia)
3)The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupery (France)
4)Half of a Yellow Sun - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - (Nigeria)
5)The Map of Love - Ahdaf Souief (Egypt)
6)The Bonesetter's Daughter - Amy Tan (China)
7)The Whale Rider - Witi Ihimaera (New Zealand)
8)Funny Boy - Shyam Selvadurai (Sri Lanka)
9)The Name of the Rose - Umberto Eco (Italy)
A big Thank You to all of you who responded with suggestions. I have not been able to get all your suggested books on this list but that doesn't mean I have not made a note of them. (I have made an unofficial reading wish-list of my own!) I'm thankful to this challenge and my readers already because they have brought to my notice so many great authors that I may otherwise not have heard of.

Welcome to the challenge!! Great work on your list, it looks like people were very happy to give you amazing titles for your Orbis Terrarum travels. YAY! So happy to have you, and I can't wait to see your reviews on these. I am going to read Half a Yellow Sun too, as I have heard very good things about it, and I am very interested in The Whale Rider, I have seen the movie and know it would be a book to read!
Welcome, and don't forget to come back and check once in a while, since I try to do some fun things for the challengers...and if you want the rest of us know when you have completed a book and/or have some thoughts or a review post a link to it on the (your orbis terrarum travel thoughts) link on the right!
Again, glad to have you!
